Practical arrangements for St Patrick’s Day

If you’re joining us for our St Patrick’s Day celebrations it’s worth noting some practical arrangements as we are expecting larger numbers than usual.

Seating in Down Cathedral

The cathedral doors will open at 10.30 am and seating will be available to the general public on a first–come first–served basis. Please do not keep seats. A limited number of places will be reserved for the pilgrims walking from Saul.

Please note that, adjacent to the cathedral there will be overflow seating with an audio and video feed. Please wrap up well!

Transport to SaulFrom 8.00 am, private buses will leave from the Mall for the communion service and pilgrimage.

  • The last bus for the communion service leaves at 8.45 am

  • The last bus for the pilgrimage leaves at 9.45 am

  • One bus will return to Down Cathedral at 10.30 am

Parking Please be aware that this is a very busy day in Downpatrick and we advise you to plan ahead. Unfortunately spaces may not be reserved and you will not be able to park in the cathedral grounds. There are limited spaces along the Mall and 5 minutes walk from the cathedral, you may park in Down High School (Mount Crescent, Downpatrick, BT30 6EU).
