Down and Dromore members active at General Synod

Members from Down and Dromore have been taking to the podium at the Church of Ireland General Synod in Armagh.

Just a few snippets:

Speaking to the report of the Covenant Council, Bishop Harold said, “Let’s make interchangeability of ministry bite.” He also commended to Synod the AMICUM Report, ‘Into All the World’.

Andrew Brannigan proposed an Environmental Charter for use by all parishes in the Church of Ireland. The motion was brought on behalf of Church and Society Commission and was adopted by Synod. New Synod member, Stephen Trew (right) spoke passionately about the need for climate justice.

Thanking the Priorities Fund for their financial support, Hilary McClay (Down) spoke of the success of Willowfield’s ministry to people with learning disabilities, their monthly evening ‘Service for All’ and the faith journey of several of the participants.

Stephen Doherty (Down) also thanked Priorities for their funding towards Glen Community Church, a new plant from St Mark’s Newtownards. Not even a year old, more than 70 people are attending each week and the church has recently been involved with suicide awareness initiatives in the estate.

Bishop Harold will address the Mission Breakfast on Friday morning at 8.15 am when he will speak about the Down and Dromore Year of Mission.
