Multi–Faith Quiet Room opens in George Best City Airport

A Multi–Faith Quiet Room was recently opened in the George Best City Airport. Honorary Chaplain to the airport, the Revd Colin Hall–Thompson, helped to persuade the management to add a Quiet Room to their facilities and when a suitable space became available the management fitted out a small room off the foyer (near to the tourist desk).

Representatives of a variety of faiths in Northern Ireland attended an official opening ceremony which included a short reading and prayer from each faith represented – Christian (Anglican, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian) Islam, Hindu, Buddhist, Baha’i, Jewish and Hari Khrishna.

The Revd Hall–Thompson commented, “We hope many passengers passing through will use the Multi–Faith Quiet Room.  A copy of each Faith’s scriptures is available.  Airports can be soulless places, but here is a facility that people, passengers and staff, can come apart in the solidarity of spirituality and peace”.
