We’re looking forward to the 9th annual Bible Week

We hope that you’re looking forward to our 9th annual Bible Week and plan to be in Shankill Church, Lurgan, each evening from Tuesday 1– Friday 4 September.

Our previous speakers have come from different corners of the Anglican Communion but this year we welcome David Parker, Senior Pastor of the Desert Vineyard Church in California. He will lead us in 4 studies in Jeremiah under the title, ‘How do you mend a broken heart?’

David is a speaker not to be missed – rooted in scripture and described by Bishop Harold as, “a humble and gifted communicator who brings to his preaching pastoral experience among some of the most broken people in society.” You can read a little more about David below.

Music

As well as the Bible teaching, music is a very important element of the week. Shankill Parish Musical Director, Carl McCambley, will lead worship in a mix of styles, both with the praise band and on the church’s magnificently restored J W Walker pipe–organ.

Another musical highlight will be a vibrant performance from ‘Kerygma, The Good News Choir’ on Friday evening, 4 September. Director, Lorna Palmer, formed the choir for the Year of Mission at Bishop Harold’s invitation and this will be a taster ahead of their concert planned for November.

Prayer

Prayer ministry will be available towards the end of each evening at the front of the church in the chancel and to the left. Please avail of the opportunity to receive prayer for yourself or someone known to you. The Prayer Team are trained, experienced, discreet and considerate. Most importantly, they will themselves have spent time in prayer before the evening begins.

Come!

Please join us in Lurgan each evening at 7.45 pm. Although the Bible Week is organised by the diocese, anyone is welcome to come along and there is no charge.

David studied ancient history at the University of Missouri and theology in Regent College, Canada. He is the author of a series of inductive Bible study guides and has spent a good portion of his ministry helping people understand and apply the word of God to their lives. He has led the Desert Vineyard Church for 20 years, developing its ministry among the poor and its focus outwards to those who are searching for reality and meaning in Jesus Christ.
