Bible Societies respond to refugee crisis
We’re all watching as hundreds of thousands of people journey into and across Europe, desperately seeking a safe place. It is hard not to feel utterly helpless in the face of this human tragedy, but we can act and we must pray.
Bible Societies across central Europe are living out God’s Word and bringing His love to the refugees, responding to their needs with practical aid and God’s comforting Word.
Aid packages are being distributed containing items such as: sanitary kits with shower gel, soap, detergent, toothpaste, razors, wet wipes, antibacterial hand gel and tissues; water and cartons of fruit juice; and scripture booklets specifically designed to speak into the life of migrants. These have been produced in seven languages with 33 relevant scripture passages and extra printings are being undertaken.
Please pray
Pray for compassion towards these poor travellers, for protection against traffickers, disease and hazards on their journeys.
Pray for water, food, shelter, clothing and good hygiene.
Pray that Jesus will be moving through the desperate camps as his people minister and serve in his name.
Ask God what He would have you do!
We need to stand together to show God’s love in this practical way, caring for the needs of the vulnerable and praying God’s promises of hope and comfort over them.
