Moira team abseil for Ibba, South Sudan

Four members of St John’s, Moira (including the rector Revd Joanne Megarrell, right), abseiled down Belfast’s Europa Hotel on Saturday 12 September to raise funds for a community vehicle for Bishop Wilson in Ibba Diocese, South Sudan.

These brave souls were members of the team that was supposed to travel to Ibba in August this year but the trip had to be postponed due to the unstable situation in the country. They hope to be able to make the journey in January 2016.

“So far we have raised around £15,000 towards the vehicle which will make a big difference to ministry in an area with such a poor transport network” says Joanne. “We’d love people to support our next fund raising venture – ‘Silver Songs for Ibba’ – with the award winning Murley Silver Band on 25 September.”

The venue is St John’s Parish Centre. Tickets are £10 and are available from Parish Centre.
