Kilkeel Parish looks back on a fruitful mission

Christ Church Kilkeel has just completed a 12 day programme of events and services for the whole community, working with Richard Scott from ‘Through Faith Missions‘ and some of our Diocesan Evangelists in training.

“Our aim was to invite the community into the life of the church and share a clear gospel message with them,” said rector, Revd Ken McGrath. “However, we also realised how important it was to be out and about in the town so we did 3 brand new things: we opened a ‘Prayer Hub’ in former bank premises on the main street; we held a service for fishermen down at the harbour and we did ‘door to door’ work in the town. Calling at doors with a questionnaire about belief was especially fruitful and showed us that people are hungry for God – we just need to engage with them.”

Other events included a service of healing, a recreation of the TV game ‘The Cube’ and an Indian cookery demonstration in a local hotel.
