Pray for South Sudan teams leaving 5 January

On 5 January, two small teams from the diocese will leave for South Sudan. Jane Corbett and Nina Coffey will travel to Maridi and a group from St John’s Moira will visit Ibba. Four of the group from St John’s are visiting the country for the first time.

All the travellers would value your prayers for safe and fruitful visits but, whilst both itineraries are fluid, here are outlines to help you pray more specifically:

Rector of Moira, Revd Joanne Megarrell

David Johnston will be assisting with Bee Keeping and agriculture (David has a keen interest in these as part of his job at home).

Olwen Laird will be assisting with administration, IT and accounts (again linking in with her job..).

Joan Johnston and Diane Graham, both nurses, will be working on many aspects of Health education, including feminine hygiene.

I will be doing training with the pastors, teaching and preaching.

We arrive home on 21 January.

Jane Corbett

Whilst in Maridi we will be guided by Bishop Justin.  The main reason for our visit is to assure fellow Christians that they are not forgotten in the difficulties they have to endure.

We hope to spend time during our week in Maridi, teaching some MU ladies from the Diocese of Olo how to make the sanitary pads, as we did in December 2013 to the MU in Maridi. We will also be handing out completed kits – donated from the months of work done by many volunteers.

We will be meeting and spending time with some of the survivors of a recent tragedy and hearing their stories. We will also learn about the counselling that has been set up by the MU to assist people involved and many who lost family members.

As always we will spend time with our brothers and sisters, both in prayer and in praise and worship. Always a joy!

Nina arrives home on 15 January whilst I will head for Rwanda where I will visit Jerome and Mary Munyungaju and Bird of Paradise Ministries in Kigali. I return on 21 January.
