Gilnahirk churches organise centenary commemorative event for schools
In this year of two important centenaries, the Gilnahirk Churches have organised a commemorative event in conjunction with Our Lady and St Patrick’s College to take place on Friday 11 March 2016.
Young people from the schools in the East Belfast Education Partnership will look together at the Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme and share their different perspectives.
The schools participating are: Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Campbell College, Bloomfield Collegiate, Strathearn School, Grosvenor Grammar, Lagan College, Ashfield Girls and Ashfield Boys.
Professor Laurence Kirkpatrick, from Union Theological College (Systematic Theology and History) will be the main speaker and clergy and church leaders from the Gilnahirk Churches will also participate. These include Revd Nigel Kirkpatrick (St Dorothea’s) and Susan Macfarland (Braniel Community Church).
