Statements from Bishop Harold Miller and Archdeacon David McClay on the attack on a Prison Officer in East Belfast

From the Rt Revd Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore, and Chair of the CoI NI Community Relations Working Group:

“The attack this morning on a Prison Officer through the detonation of an explosive device under his van in East Belfast is a deplorable act on an individual who is serving the community and an attack on everyone in society. I join with others in condemning this terrible act and I also wish the victim well in his recovery – he and his family are in our prayers.”

From Archdeacon David McClay, Rector of Willowfield Parish, Belfast:

“Local people on the Woodstock Road are appalled by the attack this morning on a Prison Officer. He and his family are in our prayers, as are all those who are impacted by this criminal and detestable act. I join with others across our community in condemning it.”
