Caring for our burial grounds and gardens of rememberance

Our church graveyards are places of immense significance. The have emotional resonance for the bereaved, their families and the wider community but they also have historical and evidential value. The diocese rightly encourages considerate care of these important spaces and regulates their management for the good of all.

The guide and templates downloadable below form the basis of the Regulations for Burial Grounds (and, if appropriate, Gardens of Remembrance) which are to be adopted by each parish in the Diocese. They reflect the requirements of Chapter 12 of the Constitution of the Church of Ireland and the legal position pertaining in Northern Ireland in 2012.

We make them available for your reference and information and hope they answer questions you may have.
