Dromore Cathedral has a new Dean and Rector

The Revd Geoff Wilson has become both Rector and Dean of Dromore Cathedral.  He was instituted as rector by Bishop Harold Miller and installed as dean by the Chancellor, Revd Canon Robert Howard at a service on 18 November. The preacher was the Rt Revd Ken Clarke, formerly Geoff’s bishop in the Diocese of Kilmore.

About Geoff

Geoff, 54, was born in Newtownards but spent most of his spiritually formative years in the Parish of Mullavilly.  He was ordained in 2004 and was appointed Bishop’s Curate of the Swanlinbar Group of Parishes, Co Cavan, in the Diocese of Kilmore.  Two years later he was appointed Rector with additional responsibility for the Kildallon Group of Parishes and in June 2009 was appointed Rector of Shankill Parish, Lurgan.

Before ordination Geoff was a public servant for seventeen years and since 1987 has been happily married to Naomi.  They have three children – Bethany and Jack who live and work in Sydney, Australia, and Sam who is still living at home whilst completing his studies at University.

Speaking of his new appointment Geoff said…

I am excited as this new chapter begins to unfold.  I thank God for his faithfulness throughout my christian life, but particularly for the blessing of my time in Shankill Parish, where we have made many friends and learnt so, so much. As we embrace God’s will for our lives in this next season of ministry, I look forward to forging new friendships, exercising a deeper more consistent pastoral ministry, being a faithful teacher and preacher and seeing God’s kingdom come in ways that only He can enable by His grace. Please do pray for us as we begin our ministry in Dromore Cathedral.
