First Aid Course Completed

The diocese has just completed a First Aid course in partnership with St. John’s Ambulance. The course was organised through the Children’s, Youth and Families Department to be able to offer parishioners, especially working as volunteers at events, the opportunity to complete a day course on First Aid.

Commenting after the course Tim Burns, the Diocesan Youth Officer, said;

‘We became aware that some of our leaders in different parishes were looking for the opportunity of First Aid training but that there were not the appropriate courses easily available to them. Going to a training course on a Saturday morning generally doesn’t get anyone particularly excited, however, we had ministers, workers and volunteers from the diocese come to Magheralin Parish Halls on Saturday morning, the 21st of January, for first aid training with Phylis from St. John’s ambulance. We had a great day, there was plenty of information but also lots of practical training to prepare us in case of a medical emergency. Phylis was a great facilitator with plenty of knowledge and experience to share and everyone left with more confidence and knowledge in how to handle an emergency situation in whatever area of church they are involved in. Magheralin was a great venue, the facilities are great and they are brilliant hosts, so thank you to them and Phylis for a great day.’
