Kilbroney Volunteers say farewell to Chipo

Volunteers and young people gathered on Monday night for a ‘surprise’ leaving party for Kilbroney Centre Warden, Chipo Lawlor. Chipo has served as Centre Warden for the past 6 and a half years. This busy role involves housekeeping, maintenance of the facilities and management of bookings. Many guests have enjoyed the hospitality and activities that Chipo provided over the years, with the campfire often being the highlight of their stay.

Speaking at the party Diocesan Development Officer, Andrew Brannigan said, “Chipo is going to be really missed by those of who have come to know him through the Kilbroney Centre over the past few years.  As the ever–present warden he has been caring, dedicated and unflappable and has achieved almost legendary status amongst the young people that attend summer camps!  Our prayers are with him as he moves on to a new marriage, new country and new life!”

The Kilbroney Christian Residential and Conference Centre was established in 1974 as a residential centre run with a Christian ethos, under the auspices of the Church of Ireland in the Down and Dromore. The centre is popular for youth weekends and during the summer it is the venue for the Kilbroney Adventure Camps.
