Welcome training road show begins in Down and Dromore

The first two of five road shows on welcome training have just completed in Down and Dromore diocese.  These evenings were billed as ‘taster’ training to encourage and equip anyone with an interest in their church becoming a more welcoming place and to give participants a taste of the many good ideas in being a welcome place and a welcoming people.  Supported by an accompanying training guide the evening’s training involved a large degree of interactivity and conversation as participants got to ‘practice’ their welcome on each other.

Speaking after the first two evenings the facilitator for the training, Andrew Brannigan, said; ‘These welcome training nights have been packed with information but also a lot of fun.  We’ve got to meet a lot of people from other churches, share ideas and even practice small talk with new people!

One of the key reminders of the training has been an encouragement that the church has so much to offer in welcoming others and that big improvements in welcome are easier than we think.  So far feedback has been great and we are really looking forward to the next ones in May.’

The next 3 training evenings are on Tuesday 9th May (Saul), Tuesday 16th May (Donaghcloney) and Wednesday 17th May (Hillsborough).
