In the mood for a fun day at Kilmood

Kilmood Fete promises to be a fun–for–all–the–family day.

Saturday, May 13 is the date and those considering making their way to the event may well be encouraged to do so by the array and quality of prizes on offer.

A luxury break for two at a Hastings Group Hotel of your choosing and a three–course meal for two at the Fitzwiliam Hotel are the two top prizes respectively.

The winners will be those chosen in the Grand Prize Draw.

Among the other prizes are £130 worth of Pure Day Spa treatments, £50 James Nicholson Wine vouchers, meals for two at The Poacher’s Pocket and Balloo House, £30 Tandoori Comber vouchers, official Ulster Rugby merchandise, flower arrangements by Two Green Ladies plus family passes for Streamvale Farm, Dundonald Ice Bowl and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

The draw sponsors are KFC who, in addition, are putting up ‘Bargain Buckets’ as prizes.

Entry into the draw is just £1 and tickets are available by email (killinchy@down.anglican.org) or on the day.

The fete also will feature traditional stalls – plants and shrubs, home produce and cakes, arts and crafts and new and nearly new among them.

There will be a range of vintage and fast cars – always a big hit with the men.

Add a dog show (12.30pm, with prizes for all breeds and sizes), cookery demonstrations, musical entertainment by Killinchy Silver Band, activities for the children which include an animal corner, a bouncy castle, chocolate fountains, candy floss, popcorn, fairground stalls and a fancy dress competition (11.30am) and the organisers would appear to have succeeded admirably in their aim of providing ‘something for everyone’.

Now all they need is a re–run of the sort of weather we all enjoyed ;last weekend!

The gates open at 10.30am, with the finishing time scheduled for 1.30pm.
