Update on Bishop Dan Herzog

News from our link diocese of Albany. Bishop Bill Love writes with an update on our friend and brother, Bishop Dan Herzog (right), known to many in Down and Dromore.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Bishop Dan and Carol are very appreciative and want to thank everyone throughout the Diocese who have been holding them up in prayer. As some of you know, Bishop Dan recently underwent surgery to remove a section of his colon infected from Diverticulitis (a very painful disorder that causes inflammation and infection in the colon/intestines.) He hopes to return home soon from the hospital, once his digestive system kicks back into gear. In the meantime, Bishop Dan has asked us all to please continue to keep him in prayer. While very appreciative of our prayers as well as cards or letters, he has specifically asked that no one try to visit him while in the hospital. As you might imagine, he has not received much rest in the hospital and the healing process is very uncomfortable. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and love and support for Bishop Dan and Carol.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for our dear brother, Bishop Dan. We thank you for bringing him safely through his recent surgery and for all his doctors and nurses and medical team who are ministering to him, and all who are holding him up in prayer. We pray that You will continue to guide and empower them through Your Holy Spirit to be a channel of Your love and mercy and healing grace. We ask Your blessing upon any medication or medical treatment he is receiving. We pray that You will ease the pain and discomfort that Bishop Dan is currently experiencing, especially the nausea, that You will keep him free of any infection or complications, and that You will restore him fully to health. May Your perfect will be accomplished in his life. In Jesus’ most blessed and holy name we pray. Amen!
