Meet Revd Emma Carson

Emma Carson has been ordained deacon to serve an internship in the Parish of Magheralin:

I’ve lived in many places in my life but I currently call Belfast home. I have been blessed with a wonderful family who taught me to love the Lord Jesus Christ. My faith and trust in God has been an anchor through many a storm. My Dad, a clergyman, and my mum, together in ministry, taught me to always be seeking to share the love of Christ. I have worshipped in many churches since I was a child but have been rooted in Willowfield Parish and Braniel Community Church for several years.

Before beginning the journey to ordination I studied at Stranmillis University College, Belfast, and at the University of Edinburgh. I worked as a Primary School teacher in both Belfast and Lisburn.

I heard the first whispers of a calling to ordained ministry in my early twenties. Through the support of friends, family, clergy and the parish, I started to explore the Lord’s calling on my life. I began to pray for confirmation which I received through God’s Word, through his Holy Spirit and through the support of my sponsoring Bishop, Rector and my DDO. Thus began the exciting journey that has led me here!

My heart is for the local Church. I’m passionate about seeing Church communities living out their Gospel commission – to proclaim the Good News, to challenge the injustices of this world, to make known God’s Better Story for the world and to fully express the love of God. I am really looking forward to getting stuck into my deacon intern year in Magheralin Parish and to seeing what the year will bring!
