Magheralin Parish going for a ‘Week Without’ for CAP

During the week of Magheralin’s Harvest celebrations 21 – 28 October, a number of the staff team and CAP team will be aiming to survive by spending no more than £1 a day on their food.

The ‘Week Without’ will give them a very small glimpse of the reality for many CAP clients who struggle daily to have enough money for basics such as, food, heat and clothing.

Members of the church family are being encouraged to join in by living on less income for this one week or by giving up something such as a weekly coffee shop trip, take away meal or sweet goodies.

Magheralin Parish is one of three churches who work together to provide CAP’s services in the Lurgan and the idea is that the money saved will be donated to support this work.

Rector, Revd Simon Genoe said: ”I have read stories of people in severe debt making the most heartbreaking decisions – like having to forgo heat to eat, or parents going hungry in order to feed the kids. In contrast to that, it’s little sacrifice to limit our food budget for a week in order to raise funds for CAP’s wonderful work. “
