Shankill Parish Lurgan invite you to their Christmas Tree Festival

You are warmly invited to a Christmas Tree Festival in Shankill Parish Church, Lurgan, from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 December. The weekend will also see the launch of the parish’s seven year vision plan.

Exploring the theme Jesus Is…, the Festival will display around 75 Christmas trees – real, artificial and sculpted, all interpreting an aspect of the person of Jesus through Scripture and through the well–known words of Christmas carols and hymns. The trees will be decorated by a range of groups and individuals from within the parish and local community.

The Festival opens with a lighting ceremony on Thursday 6 December at 7.00 pm when there will be an opportunity to informally browse the trees against a background of festive music. On Friday 7, the church will be open from 10.00 am – 9.30 pm, Saturday 8 from 10.00 am – 6.00 pm, and on Sunday 9 from 2–5.00 pm.

As part of the celebrations there will be two special services on Sunday. At 10.30 am the preacher will be Bishop Ken Good, a former rector of Shankill. At this service, the parish will formally launch ‘Re–Imagining Shankill’, a plan to enable direction and vision through the next seven years in the run–up to the 300th anniversary of the first church on the current site. At 7.00 pm, Bishop Harold Miller will preach at a Guest Service to bring the Festival to a close.

All donations at the Festival will benefit Lurgan YMCA, PIPS Upper Bann and Shankill Parish.
