The new Prayer Book is coming!
The revised edition of the Book of Common Prayer will soon be available to buy from the Church of Ireland’s online bookstore.
Bishop Harold has been an important contributor to the revision as Chair of the Liturgical Advisory Committee and Chair of the Publication Group.
So what’s inside? The new prayer book contains all the amendments made by General Synod since the last print run plus the new Services for Morning and Evening Prayer for use on Sundays. In the New Year an accompanying booklet will be published with those new services in their ordinary form plus five seasonal variations.
Does the arrival of the new blue book mean that parishes may no longer use the familiar green Book of Common Prayer published in 2004? Not at all. Both will be authorised for use in worship.
