Data Protection Roadshow offers GDPR advice

The Church of Ireland’s Data Protection Officer, Rebekah Fozzard, was in Belfast on Wednesday with her Data Protection Roadshow.

Rebekah ran both an afternoon and an evening session in Knockbreda Parish halls for clergy, parish staff and volunteers. She presented the latest data protection regulations, offering lots of practical advice and answering a steady stream of questions from the floor. Participants took away the newest GDPR Parish Handbook.

Rebekah also facilitated ‘one to one’ sessions and a number of parishes took up the opportunity for discussion.

Canon John Auchmuty, rector of St Columba’s Knock, and his Parish Administrator, Karen Patterson, had a one to one session with Rebekah before the seminar.

Karen said: “I found it really effective, and it gave us confidence that we were doing the right things. We were keen to hear what was new, especially around CCTV and photography and Rebekah was able to answer our questions.”
