Julie and Tim continue to do a fabulous job supporting and resourcing our children, youth and families work around the diocese.

Here’s this week’s update as we head into the month of May…

Children’s Ministry

JIGSAW@Home for Sunday 3 May

The JIGSAW Sunday School material has been downsized for families to do at home:  

Year 1 Unit 9 Lesson 1 – The Lord’s Prayer

Year 2 Unit 9 Lesson 1 – Fishers of Men, the call of the first disciples

Year 3 Unit 9 Lesson1 – Peter heals the lame man, the church grows

  • Once again Look out for the family game activity that I will be putting up on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

  • Keep an eye out for the All Age Family Talks at the end of the month.

  • Memory Verse challenge for the month of May

Year 1 – The Lord’s Prayer – this will be taught in 3 sections and then put together as one.

Year 2 – Matthew 28:19 – ‘Therefore go make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the holy Spirit.’

Year 3 – Philippians 4:13 – ‘For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.’

These will come out on video to watch, copy and learn.

Youth Ministry

Saturday Night Live (Stream) is on this Saturday 2 May. Ava Jordan–Curasi, youth worker in Banbridge will be the speaker. This will be available through our YouTube channel and our Facebook page.

Reflections from the Woodpile

The second of a weekly video bible reflection series for young people exploring the Sermon on the Mount is now available, you can find it here. This one discusses what it means to be Salt and light.  

Weekly Challenge

This week’s Weekly Challenge for young people across the diocese is to build a Fort by Friday the 1 May at 5.00 pm. Entries can be sent by direct message to our Facebook or Instagram page. Please encourage young people to get involved.

COVID–19 Support for Your Family – We have a whole section on our website specifically about supporting your family during this time. We will update this regularly with new articles and videos, so keep checking in every now and again. 

The Kitchen Table Project – Keep up to date with what is happening with The Kitchen Table Project, a movement of mums, dads and carers who want to inspire a faith that lasts in their children. And follow the latest updates on their Facebook page.

The Kitchen Table Project –  team work alongside Rachel Turner of Parenting for Faith. Rachel’s latest book Parenting as a Church Leader delivers essential parenting and family life skills for church leaders, and is available now. 

Playtime – For those of you involved with families with young children, check out our PlaytimeFacebook page, where there are ideas, encouragement and support to keep in contact with these families.

Positive Mental Health

I want to remind you of these videos regarding positive mental health produced by Tom Tate who runs WhyMind.ie, a counselling and wellbeing service. He has produced two videos to help parents and carers support children and young people in lockdown.
