LAMP team keeps prayer flame alight

At Down Cathedral on St Patrick’s Day, Bishop David called the diocese to pray for Ireland every day from then until Pentecost Sunday.

Congratulations must go to the LAMP team who have kept this flame of prayer alight on their Facebook page, each day aiming to post a video of a different person praying for Ireland with these words from the BCP:

Almighty and merciful God, who in days of old didst give to this land the benediction of thy holy Church; Withdraw not, we pray thee, thy favour from us, but so correct what is amiss, and supply what is lacking, that we may more and more bring forth fruit to thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer cards were given out in 17 March but as we were on the verge of complete lockdown at the time, very few people were able to take them away.

Thanks to LAMP, this prayer has been prayed by a wide variety of people and in different places including South Sudan, Albany and recently, the Belfry of Christchurch Ballyculter!

If you’d like to contribute a video, please get in touch via the LAMP Facebook page.

24 days to go!
