Are you up for a challenge?

Are you up for a challenge? Andrew Brannigan and a team from the diocese are planning a 4–Peaks Challenge which will take place over the weekend of 20–22 May. It’s open to anyone interested in hill walking or who perhaps wishes to raise some sponsorship for a good cause.

Andrew, who has completed the 4–Peaks before says: “This will be a great opportunity for people of all ages to challenge themselves and experience some of the best scenery that the UK has to offer us. It will hard work but also great craic in the fellowship of others from around the diocese. It’s an experience you’ll be talking about for years to come!”

What is it?

There are 4 mountains to climb in 3 days, not much sleep and lots of hours in a mini–bus (that will steadily become more odorous over the weekend).

This challenge is open to anyone aged 18–81 years but will best suit those who have done a bit of walking before. In terms of fitness if you are able to climb Slieve Donard without lots of long stops then you are probably fit enough for this.

We will organise travel, accommodation and guides but you will be responsible for your own food, insurance and care. The cost should be in the region of £250 for the trip.

Itinerary

We will leave early on Friday 20 May and climb Donard, then ferry from Dublin to Holyhead followed by dinner out and then overnight in a Travel Lodge. Saturday we’ll get up very early and climb Snowdon then travel to Scafell Pike and climb it on the same day. Then it’s a long drive up to Scotland, overnight in another Travel Lodge and Ben Nevis on Sunday morning. Then travel to Cairnryan for the ferry to get us back home around 11.00 pm Sunday night.

Click here to sign up here for an information evening in Belfast on Monday 14 March at 7.30 pm.

We will give you more information and the opportunity to sign up for the challenge that takes place over the weekend of 20–22 May.
