St Jude’s are on a mission!

It’s all go for the Gospel at St Jude’s Church which is in the midst of ‘Life ‘22’, a month of focussed mission in the Ballynafeigh area in South Belfast.

In conjunction with apassionforlife.org.uk St Jude’s has joined over 750 churches across the UK and Ireland in praying, preparing, learning, and stepping out together to make Jesus known in their communities this Spring and beyond.

There’s no “one size fits all” approach, so churches can cater to their context and plan events or start groups that are appropriate for their community.

The team at St Jude’s led by the rector, Revd Peter Bourke, has planned a fantastic programme of events which got underway on 17 March with a St Patrick’s Fun Day. Bishop David spoke at a Men’s Breakfast on Saturday 19 March.

Women’s Worker, Kerry Connolly said, “We love the idea of a focused month of mission but also a lifetime of evangelism. As a small evangelical church, we want to reach people more effectively in our area and Life ‘22 seemed like a great way of helping us to do this!”

Other events include ‘Craic with A Cola Can’ which is usually weekly but during ‘Life ‘22’ will run over three days. Jason Nicholl (Children’s and Youth Worker) and Kerry put up the gazebo on the church lawn, give away free cans of Coke, tea, coffee (and hot chocolate in the winter), and chat with people. They also offer prayer if they share something that is going on in their lives and give out gospels of John, or seasonal tracts, as well as flyers to invite people to church events or groups.

“It originally was aimed at connecting with children and young people from local schools. But we have found that people of all ages are wanting to come along. As well as families, we meet many people living alone who may not have spoken to anyone else yet that day,” says Kerry.

Toddlers will also run for three themed days – a Nature Day, Sensory Day and Fancy Dress Party Day.

There’s something for everyone! Find them all on the St Jude’s Eventbrite page here.
