Liturgical resources for marking the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

The Liturgical Advisory Committee (LAC) of the Church of Ireland has published a set of liturgical resources for use in parishes marking the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The resources include material for the preparation of a Service of the Word or a Service of Holy Communion.  There are also prayers and suggested readings that can be used in the context of Morning and Evening Prayer and other offices.

Speaking about the resources, the LAC Chaplain, the Revd Adrian Dorrian, said:

“As we reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, clergy and other worship leaders will rightly wish to provide opportunities for mourning and for thanksgiving in their own contexts.  We hope that these resources will be of assistance in the preparation of services, alongside wider national events. As well as material for the preparation of Services of the Word and Holy Communion, there are readings and prayers which can be used as part of other offices or for stand–alone times of prayer.  The LAC commends these resources for use as appropriate.”

The resources are available AT THIS LINK.

A Prayer for the King’s Majesty from the Book of Common Prayer

O Lord, our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes, who dost from thy throne behold all dwellers upon earth: Most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lord, King Charles; and so replenish him with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that he may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way: Endue him plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant him in health and wealth long to live; strengthen him that he may vanquish and overcome all his enemies; and finally, after this life, he may attain everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
