Inaugural awards from the Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund

The first awards to be made from the Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund have been allocated to three churches in the diocese.

Bishop David announced the setting up of a Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund at Bible Week in 2021. The aim of this fund is to assist small churches within the Diocese of Down and Dromore who have experienced a challenging season to renew their focus on ministry and evangelistic outreach and to enter a new season of ministry fruitfulness.

Grants of up to £5,000 may be awarded from the Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund in two circumstances. Firstly, when a new church leader is appointed by the bishop tasked with transitioning a church towards growth. Secondly, in response to an application from a small parish or a small church within a parish which has experienced decline and is committed to rejuvenation of their ministries and outreach.

These inaugural awards have been made to assist and encourage churches and their new leaders as they seek to engage with their communities, undertake evangelistic outreach and commence new ministries for children and youth.

The Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund Awards for 2022 have been made to:

  • St Brendan’s Parish Church, Sydenham

  • St Dorothea’s Parish Church, Gilnahirk

  • Kilcoo Parish Church, Bryansford and St Paul’s Parish Church, Castlewellan

Partnership

We want to nurture the good and re–imagine the unsustainable so that every worshipping community in the diocese thrives, touching people’s lives, reaching their local population with the gospel and enabling individuals to discover faith and growing disciples.

We invite you to partner in this pioneering work of church rejuvenation through your engagement with these churches, and with words of encouragement, prayers and financial donations. Together we can send a message of hope to our brothers and sisters in Christ by demonstrating our commitment to them and providing them with the resources that they need as they seek to rejuvenate their ministries and mission.

Individuals and churches can support Church Rejuvenation through our CAF webpage or by downloading and returning a standing order form for the Diocesan Rejuvenation Fund.
