Coronation Choral Evensong at Belfast Cathedral
From across the City of Belfast and beyond, the Dean of Belfast, the Very Revd Stephen Forde, invites all to share in Belfast Cathedral’s Choral Evensong held on the Eve of the Coronation this evening at 5.30pm.
King Charles has asked that prayers are said for him across the nations as he prepares for his coronation tomorrow (Saturday, 6th May), in Westminster Abbey.
This is an opportunity for the people of Belfast to come together at St Anne’s Cathedral in a special moment of shared celebration and anticipation. Please join us for a magnificent service of Choral Evensong.
The Responses are by William Byrd. Psalm 122 will be sung to a chant by Herbert Howells. The Canticles are to the royal setting ‘Collegium Regale’, again by Herbert Howells. The anthem is ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace’ by SS Wesley.
The service will be attended by His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant for Belfast, Mrs Jane Wells MBE, and also by the High Sheriff for Belfast, Councillor John Kyle.
The service will be led by the Dean and members of the Cathedral Chapter along with the Bishop of Down and Dromore, the Rt Revd David McClay, and the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Revd George Davison.
