Four new Diocesan Readers commissioned

Congratulations to the four new diocesan lay readers commissioned by Bishop David at a service in Holy Trinity, Banbridge, on Monday 19 June. Training as a lay reader is no small commitment and we are grateful to each of them for offering to serve the diocese with their gifts of leading and preaching.

The bishop, who also gave the address, was assisted at the service by our Diocesan Warden of Readers, Revd Willie Nixon.

Pictured above with Bishop David and Archdeacon Roderic West, the new Readers are, left to right:

  • Diane Ruddock (Seapatrick, Banbridge)

  • Millie Bellew (St Patrick’s & St Mary’s Newry)

  • Doreen Speers (St Saviour’s Craigavon)

  • Tracy Baker (Bangor Abbey)

Our diocesan lay readers serve chiefly in their home parishes but are licensed to preach anywhere in Down and Dromore.
