Vacancy, Parish of Killyleagh

The Bishop of Down and Dromore (Church of Ireland) seeks to appoint a Priest–in charge for the Parish of Killyleagh. The role will be for a period of 5 years.

The village of Killyleagh is situated on the shores of Strangford Lough approximately 20 miles from Belfast. The parish has one church, with currently two morning services each Sunday.  There are approximately 190 families and a range of parochial organisations.

We wish to appoint a person who will:

  • Strengthen the spiritual life of the parish through worship, bible study and prayer.

  • Teach and explain the bible clearly and help parishioners apply it to their daily lives.

  • Lead transition and change in worship to engage and encourage the younger generation, alongside traditional forms of worship.

  • Have good communication and leadership skills to develop Christian growth in the parish and wider community.

  • Be motivated and energetic to build on the already good relationships with clergy and people of other denominations.

  • Provide a full range of pastoral care to all parishioners, particularly the sick, bereaved and housebound.
