Shankill Parish opens 412 Youth Centre
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12.
Shankill Parish in Lurgan has opened a new centre for youth and community outreach next door to the Jethro Centre. Bishop David dedicated the 412 Centre on Tuesday evening 19 December and commended the Shankill staff team, Select Vestry and parishioners, whose vision and support made the project a reality.
The Centre will be used primarily as a youth space under the leadership of Mark Wilson, Shankill’s Youth Ministry Co–ordinator. All the parish’s existing youth ministry has already re–located there, and some additional initiatives will be starting in the new year. The centre will also be used for programmes to connect with men, and with young mums. The Parish will also run its next Alpha course in the building, starting on Monday 15 January 2024.
The former ‘Busmen’s Mission Hall’ has been vacant since the summer of 2022. The Select Vestry has agreed a four–year lease on the premises and sees the investment as an extension of its vision to be a church that is Building Faith and Building Community.
