Death of Canon Mervyn Dickson
It is with sadness that we share the death of Revd Canon Mervyn Dickson on Monday 22 January. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ann, daughter Penny and the wider family circle.
Mervyn was ordained deacon in 1966 and served curacies in Ballyholme and Knockbreda. He became incumbent of Clonallon and Warrenpoint in the Diocese of Dromore in 1975 before moving back to Down Diocese in 1984 and the incumbency of Down and Hollymount. In 1991 Mervyn joined the chapter of Down Cathedral as Prebendary of St Andrew. He retired in 2006.
The funeral service will be held in Down Parish Church, Downpatrick, on Monday 29 January at 11.00am. A private family interment will take place afterwards.
