Prepare for Lent
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, 14 February, and lasts for 40 days (excluding Sundays) ending at midnight on Easter Saturday, 30 March.
During Lent many Christians fast, eat frugally or give up treats following the example of Jesus, who fasted for forty days in the wilderness.
Others chose to adopt practices rather than give something up but either way, it’s a marvellous opportunity to simplify our lives and spend more time examining them before God.
If you haven’t already done so, why not think about observing the fast and consider how you might re–structure your day to set aside more time for personal prayer, reading and reflection.
Lent video series
Bishop David has recorded a series of evening devotions in Haggai to take us from Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday. These will be released in the early hours each morning so that you can use them at a time that suits.
You’ll find the videos on our website newsfeed, YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram.
SAMS UK & Ireland have also produced a booklet, 40 Days of Prayer for Lent downloadable from their website HERE.
