GROW by cultivating a healthy church culture
We were delighted to welcome Pastor Paul Reid as our fourth speaker in the GROW series. Paul’s topic was ‘Creating a culture of generosity’, and he shared from his many years of experience leading Christian Fellowship Church.
Paul spoke at length about culture – what it is, what can kill it and how to change it – because culture trumps vision and great ideas every time.
He said that generosity will only spring from a healthy church culture which the leadership must embody first. Bringing even 20% of the church with you is enough create change.
“Generosity is an act of worship”, he said. “Show me someone in love with Christ and I will show you a generous person.”
Paul went on to outline several different expressions of generosity that should be present in healthy churches and which will lead to flourishing.
To paraphrase Proverbs 11: 24–25, “The world of the generous gets larger and larger and the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.”
