"Do the right thing"
“Do the right thing; listen to people and be merciful; and walk in humility with God,” was Stephen Bloomfield’s advice to the men gathered in Holy Trinity Banbridge on Saturday 16 November.
Stephen, a former Danske Bank executive, was the special guest at our Diocesan Men’s Breakfast and his simple advice was based on Micah 6:8, a verse that had been important to his father and in turn to him.
He has recently retired after holding several senior roles in the bank, the last of which was Head of Customer Experience and Conduct.
In conversation with Keith Gardiner, Stephen spoke about living out his faith among his colleagues and how it influenced his approach in supporting some of the bank’s most vulnerable customers.
Stephen became a Christian through the Alpha Course and has realised that God gives us many opportunities to make a difference in people’s lives but it’s up to us to seize them, even when it is costly.
“Be courageous”, he said, “and pray about every situation”.
Bishop David hosted the morning which drew men from across the diocese and Raymond McClure from Ballyhalbert and Ards Connect, led the worship.
We are grateful to Raymond, Stephen, and to Revd Willie Nixon and the great team at Holy Trinity for serving and hosting us with such grace and generosity.
