Diocesan leaders gather for 3-day conference

Around 130 diocesan clergy, church planters and other church leaders gathered in the Sligo Park Hotel from 27-30 January 2025 for our biennial residential conference.

The three days of worship, teaching, fellowship and rest were a time for receiving and an opportunity for Bishop David to spend time with his serving clergy and leaders in an informal setting.

We were delighted to be joined by Revd Dr Ian Paul who gave three Bible readings plus speakers Pastor Paul and Priscilla Reid and evangelist Jonathan Conrathe. Canon Roly and Susan Heaney were chaplains to the conference.

As well as the teaching sessions and Bible readings, the programme included morning and evening worship, Holy Communion, the very competitive ‘Big Table Quiz’ and free time to explore this beautiful part of the world.

Speakers

Ian Paul is a church leader, theologian and Bible teacher based in Nottingham and has completed a PhD on the Book of Revelation. He has a ministry of teaching and writing and produces the widely read blog Psephizo.com. Ian guided us on how to approach this very complex book, and did some teaching in Revelation 7.

Paul and Priscilla started a house church in 1981 which eventually became Christian Fellowship Church in Belfast.  They took two sessions on how to flourish and endure in Christian ministry such that we finish strong.

Jonathan Conrathe is the Founder and Director of Mission24, an inter-denominational Christian ministry with a vision to equip the Church and reach the world for Christ. Even if not specifically called or gifted to be evangelists, Jonathan reminded us of the centrality and urgency of proclaiming the Gospel and boldly sharing our faith with others.

Bishop David also addressed the conference.
