Revd Ken McGrath appointed rector and canon
After serving as Bishop’s Curate for almost three years the Revd Ken McGrath has been appointed Rector of Gilnahirk and has also accepted Bishop David’s invitation to become a canon in Down Cathedral.
Ken said:
"I am delighted that the Parish of Gilnahirk has been raised again to full parochial status, due in no small part to the dedication and commitment of the Select Vestry, our leaders, and parishioners. It is an honour and privilege to be appointed rector and to continue my ministry among the people of St Dorothea’s and the broader Gilnahirk community.
"To also be invited by Bishop David to become a canon in Down Cathedral took me very much by surprise and I was honoured to accept. I am looking forward to joining the Cathedral Chapter in due course and playing an active role in the life and ministry of the cathedral under the new leadership of Dean Henry Blair. "
Dean Henry said:
“I welcome the appointment of the Revd Ken McGrath to the Chapter of Down Cathedral. His appointment now completes the Chapter and I look forward to Ken joining with the other canons in being involved in the ministry of the cathedral in this new season as we seek to develop the cathedral as a centre of mission within the diocese and beyond.”
