Sanctuary Sunday 2024

CMS Ireland will host a service to mark Sanctuary Sunday on 23 June at 6.30pm in the Hub on Elmwood Avenue.

It will be an opportunity to pray with and for refugees and those seeking refuge in Northern Ireland and globally. It promises to be a beautiful service of liturgy and worship as we reflect upon being a place of welcome and rest for those whom God has brought to live amongst us.

Sanctuary Sunday falls at the end of ‘Refugee Week’ and after ‘World Refugee Day’. There are more displaced people in the world today than at any other point in history and the Bible is clear in its expression of God’s loving concern for the stranger and refugee. Celebrating Sanctuary Sunday is an opportunity to express our prayers and solidarity, but also to raise awareness again of our Christian calling to welcome the stranger and do this openly and proudly.

All welcome!
